The ESP – Selective Router helps PSAPs increase capabilities while keeping costs down
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GATINEAU, QC, Canada – February 19, 2009 – Solacom Technologies, a communications solution company that enables interoperability over any network infrastructure, announces that its technology-leading ESP – Selective Router has been installed by the Ross County Sheriff’s office in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Solacom has revitalized Ross County’s aging and outdated call-taking network with a new more efficient solution. The County’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) saved both time and money by installing the ESP – Selective Router in their existing network. In doing so, the PSAP did not have to replace their existing call-taking hardware and in the process also gained VoIP functionality—a Next-Generation 9-1-1 capability unavailable with the previous system.
“The ESP ensures emergency 9-1-1 phone service in the region is not only maintained but expanded allowing our wireless carriers to connect to our network” says Pam McNish, 9-1-1 Administrator. “The system also allows us to reroute 9-1-1 calls to back-up positions—the systems simplicity and flexibility has exceeded all of our expectations.”
“While traditional land line telephone traffic volumes have remained unchanged over the years; the increase in the number of wireless carriers with its associated traffic has exceeded the capacity and capabilities of most existing phone systems” said Ray Vilis, Vice President iTel Sales and Marketing. “Solacom’s ESP – Selective Router intercepts and routes all additional traffic that could not be supported with the previous infrastructure.”
Benefits of the ESP – Selective Router include:
- Support all required legacy Selective Router features and interfaces to ensure that no forced upgrades of existing E9-1-1 equipment are required
- Allow Wireless providers to connect to you directly
- Accurate VoIP E9-1-1 call routing today
Ross County was established in 1798 and is located an hour south of Columbus, Ohio. The city of Chillicothe was the first capital of Ohio and today boasts a healthy population of 100,000.
