Solacom awarded California Master Purchase Agreement status
Solacom has been approved under the new 9-1-1 Systems and Services Master Purchase Agreement to be used by Public Safety Answering Points in California for purchasing customer premise equipment and maintenance services.
Chicago, IL, Feb 21, 2012 – Solacom Technologies announced they have been approved under the new 9-1-1 Systems and Services Master Purchase Agreement (MPA) to be used by Public Safety Answering Points throughout the State of California for purchasing customer premise equipment and maintenance services.
Solacom was awarded the pre-qualified supplier status after having met product and pricing criteria in a competitive bid administrated by the California Technology Agency, Office of the Telecommunications Procurement.
“Solacom scored the highest of all contenders for the MPA award and we feel the Guardian platform is ideally suited to the needs of public safety 9-1-1 call centers in California” commented Tony Parrott, Solacom vice president of sales. “In particular, our Guardian controller can help resolve some of the boundary and jurisdictional issues that can arise from calls originating along the busy highways or in the densely populated urban environments” added Parrott.
Solacom’s next generation 9-1-1 system includes Guardian Intelligent Workstations that help speed public safety telecommunicator response with automatic call distribution, touch screen capability and quick transfer.
The Solacom system has an IP-based architecture and is designed to evolve well into the future in order to meet i3 standards developed by the National Emergency Number Association. The next generation i3 network will set the stage for new ways of communicating with 9-1-1 centers by such means as texting, sending videos or photos, or even automatically generated messages from medical devices.
The Guardian platform is also capable of providing the Selective routing function which is coming to be known as an ESRP (emergency services routing proxy) in the i3 environment. The ESRP ensures accurate and rapid routing of requests for help regardless of whether calls are received over legacy phone lines, a mobile network or an IP network. Other capabilities of the platform include Guardian Emergency Notification System that allows an agency to draw an area on a map and immediately create a calling list for automatically sending messages about an emergency situation, and the Guardian Mobile Position, a fully IP mobile workstation that allows public safety telecommunicators to work from any location that has a high-speed Internet connection.
